Jamba Hoops is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament in which there is a round robin before tournament play begins. Every team is guaranteed at least three games and then based on records the top 8-12 teams make the tournament for each division. The number of teams that makes the tournament will be determined the week of the tournament based on how many teams we have registered. The tournament portion of the day is single elimination culminating with a championship game. In 2018 we made the tournament into two divisions. Division 1 will be the upper division and Division 2 being the lower division. This is due to the popularity of the event and there being more and more teams each year. We will ask teams to pick the division they would like to be in but this is not going to guarantee a spot in the teams desired division.
Jamba Hoops was started in 2005 by two Minster High School students who both enjoyed basketball but had cancer affect different aspects of their lives. Jamba Hoops began as a tournament held in a local elementary school gym with just a few teams, but eventually grew into something more. It is now held annually on the Saturday before Easter. The event has grown to as many as 32 teams in participation. More importantly, the event has raised nearly $60,000 for the fight against cancer. Our goal is to bring together as many teams and players as possible for a day of basketball with one purpose in mind, to BEAT CANCER!
